BlackBerry Passport: Flagship in Square, Specs and Price

It's a rare occasion wherein we see a new smartphone and get star-strucked the moment we land our sight on it without knowing the specs. But that's what many felt upon seeing the new phone by a world-renowned mobile communications company, BlackBerry.

The BlackBerry Passport is a smartphone specially built for professionals, just like what we knew about the target audience of the company's previous mobile releases. It features a unique, eye-catching square screen and an external QWERTY keyboard in a shape of a passport - not the usual form we see with other flagship phones.

The screen is at 1:1 ratio making it a perfect square. It's a 4.5" display composed of 1440x1440 pixels (453 ppi) and protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The keyboard has a new feature allowing users to perform touch functions like moving the cursor or scrolling web pages.

The Passport is powered by the powerful 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU coupled with Adreno 330 GPU at 450MHz. The internal phone storage is at 32GB with expansion slot for microSD card up to 128GB. 3GB of RAM is provided for better multitasking.

The smartphone experience will not fall short with its large battery at 3450mAh. It boasts amazing battery life that can give users up to 30 hours of mixed usage, 12 hours of playing videos, 84 hours audio playback and 18 days standby time.

Other features are the 13MP main and 2MP front cameras, LTE connectivity, FM Radio, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and NFC. The BlackBerry Passport is now available on selected countries around the world and it reach the Philippine shores before the end of the year. The introductory price in US is at $599, unlocked. That's around P25,757 before taxes and other costs.
