Google Android One Coming Soon to the Philippines

A brand new android smartphone for you this coming holiday season is possible, thanks to Google's initiative - the Android One - on bridging the gap between high quality smartphones and more than five billion people in the world yet to experience them.

Android one was launched last June in Google's I/O annual developer conference. It addresses the three main concerns on why many people can't get their hands on high-quality smartphones: the software, hardware and connectivity. It's a great news for people who still don't know what's beyond their feature phones and also those suffering with laggy and outdated android phones.

Google unveiled the first smartphones under the Android One program yesterday in India. The three phones were from their hardware partners Micromax, Karbonn, Spice and MediaTek. The handsets feature the same specifications following the designs and standards of Android One. They pack 4.5-inch screens (854x480 resolution), 1.3Ghz quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal phone storage expendable via microSD cards, 5MP main and 2MP front camera, dual sim slots, a removable battery of 1,700mAh capacity and FM Radio.

If you're an above-average (or more techie) android user and loved Google's own Nexus lineup, the phones under the Android One may be viewed as its younger sibling. We normally see the pure android experience on those high-end devices as well as in Google Play Edition ones, boasting an efficient software without those pre-installed bloatwares from manufacturers. But through Android One, we may see the stock android with useful apps pre-installed such as Google Maps and Youtube. Of course, just like the Nexus devices, they are also included on the list of first devices that will receive the Android L and future updates.

The exciting news is that the Android One smartphones will be coming at our shores before the year ends, just in time for the Christmas season! Other countries aside from the Philippines that will be gracing this phone soon are Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Another compelling news is that international manufacturers such as Acer, Alcatel, Asus, HTC, Intex, Lava, Lenovo, Panasonic, Xolo and Qualcomm will be partnering with Google in the Android One program. That means high-quality devices, various screen sizes and hardware configurations will be at reach at a price without breaking the bank.
