Google Nexus 6: Price, Specs and What's So Special About It

Google surprisingly announced the latest Nexus devices and Android L few days ago. Included in the list is the company's own flagship smartphone, the Nexus 6, running Android 5.0 Lollipop. Let's take a look at its feats below.

The phablet flagship from Google is now made by Motorola. The design is great with touch of minimalist look and a formal radiance, maybe due to its pale colors. The Nexus logo is very visible as always, giving its distinct look. The screen is big at a size of 6 inches with QHD resolution (1440x2560 pixels) resulting to 493 pixels-per-inch. So it's not all about having a phone with a huge display, but also having a crisp and sharp screen with lost of details to behold.

As expected, the Nexus 6 has internals that are 'future-proof'. It has a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor coupled with Adreno 420GPU. Only few flagships are running the aforementioned processor yet, including the Galaxy Note 4. For the internal phone memory, a choice of 32GB and 64GB is available without slot for microSD card expansion. 3GB of RAM is provided for efficient operations. The camera is bumped at 13MP at the back and 2MP for front shots.

The battery performance is one of its key point with its high capacity of 3220mAh that promises 24 hours of use. If that still falls short, then the Motorola Turbo Charger can give you up to additional 6 hours of use from only 15-minute charging.

The Nexus 6 comes with the latest android version, lollipop. It sports new material design, transitions, a lot of performance improvements, battery optimization and more. So what's special about the Nexus 6? More for those who loves tinkering their smartphones and using it to the fullest, I mean to the fullest: rooting, installing ROMS, kernels, etc. The pure android experience is promising, and with the help of plenty of developers and large community, it gets better and better. I have a Nexus 4 and still rocks. My only concern for this beast is that it is initially priced higher at $649 in the US, which is P29,000 direct conversion without taxes and fees yet. Got to hope for better prices when this reach our shores maybe before the year ends.
